My Daily Skin Care Products

I used to be really bad at taking care my skin. Like, really bad. I would go to bed with my makeup on almost every night. I hardly every moisturized. I didn’t wear any SPF. To me, my face seemed fine. My skin didn’t look fantastic, but that’s just how it had looked for as long as I can remember. Finally, in the last year or two, I kicked myself into gear and decided I was going to put legitimate effort into taking better care of my face. My face looks exponentially better now and I can’t even tell you how happy I am that I made such a positive change in my life.

Today I’m going to talk to you about the face products I use on a daily (or almost daily) basis. Some of these products I use every single day. Some of them I use less often, but are still a part of my regular routine.

Daily Skin Care Products

Morning: My face routine in the morning is super quick and easy, typically only consisting of two products!

The Clean & Clear Cream Cleanser is my every day face wash. I use this first thing when I wake up in the morning. After using the cleanser, I moisturize. Which moisturizer I use depends on whether my makeup has any SPF in it. When I’m using a BB Cream with SPF in it, I’ll use my Morning Burst Hydrating Gel Moisturizer. If I’m wearing a foundation without any SPF, especially during the summer, I’ll use the Olay Fresh Effects Moisturizer/Sunscreen.

Evening: The first product I use each evening is my Neutrogena Naturals Makeup Remover Wipes. These wipes do a great job of removing my makeup, even eye shadow and waterproof mascara. They make my face feel fresh and actually clean, unlike other wipes that leave a residue on my skin.

After the wipes, I do a quick cleanse, once again using the Clean & Clear. A few nights per week I’ll trade my cream cleanser for the Clean & Clear Exfoliating Scrub instead!

The last step in my skin care routine is the Garnier Ultra-Lift 2-in-1 Serum and Moisturizer. I want to be preventing wrinkles as much as I can now, but a regular night cream feels a lot heavier on my face and doesn’t seem necessary at this point. This gives me some of the same benefits and allows me to only use one product.

As you can see, I am not loyal to a singular brand when it comes to my skin care. I’ve tried a lot of different products from a lot of different brands, specifically drug store brands. These are the products I’m using right now, but all are ones that I’ve found myself going back to after trying something different.

Changing my skin care routine has helped by skin to look infinitely more even-toned and smooth, and has virtually eliminated any acne that was still lingering.

Leave a comment and let me know what some of your favorite skin care products are!

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary pack of Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes for testing purposes, but all opinions are my own.

Wedding Wednesday: Hair Inspiration

Wedding Hair Inspiration

Deciding on my “look” for my wedding day has been one of the most difficult parts of planning, especially my hairstyle. Long or short? Up or down? Straight or curly?

This weekend I’m having a hair trial done with my good friend who is doing my hair, so it’s finally time to narrow it down. After taking to Pinterest and my favorite wedding-planning websites, I found tons of inspiration pictures that I loved. Of course, they’ll likely make it even harder for me to choose just one style!

I’d love to hear which looks you love most!

Makeup Storage and Where I Get Ready

Makeup Storage and Where I Get Ready

For the longest time I got ready every morning at the bathroom sink, hogging the entire room and making a mess, all while getting in Dave’s way as he tried to get ready for work. My makeup was shoved haphazardly into Tupperware containers. The makeup I didn’t use often sat in the cabinet under the sink, never to be seen again. Somehow there always managed to be mascara on the bathroom mirror and foundation on the counter. It was a flawed system.

Then Dave got me an amazing gift for Christmas. For days it sat in it’s massive wrapped box next to the Christmas tree, just taunting me. The gift was a vanity desk and bench, along with a lighted mirror. I’ve been wanting one for the longest time, and Dave is always good about making mental notes about these sorts of things.

The vanity is a beautiful dark wood. The stool came with it and fits perfectly under the desk when I’m not using it! It has two drawers, and the top opens to reveal another mirror and storage space.

Lighted Mirror

To go with the vanity, he got me a lighted mirror which I use daily.

Makeup Brushes

My makeup brushes, previously shoved away in a drawer, not sit in a glass on top of the vanity. In case you can’t tell, I love Real Techniques brushes!

Eye Makeup

In the center storage space I keep all my eye makeup (shadow, liner, mascara, etc.) This is also where I keep brow pencils, bronzer and blush.

In the right drawer are all my foundation products. I have just a few that I use regularly. When I find a product I like, I stick with it!

This drawer is my favorite, This is where I keep all my lipstick and lip gloss! This is just a small amount of what I have. The rest pushed to the back of the drawer so I could make the picture look nicer!

I love having this gorgeous vanity to get ready at every morning instead of the bathroom counter. It’s functional and holds all my makeup, while at the same time looking cute and livening up the room! It’s made getting ready each day so much easier.

Walmart Beauty Box

Walmart Beauty Box

My winter Walmart Beauty Box came! I wanted to share the contents with all of you, as well as my thoughts.

I wasn’t as excited about the winter box as I was the fall one, but the contents are great nonetheless.

1. Maybelline Color Sensational: I got the shade 925, Maple Kiss. Maybelline Color Sensationals have always been some of my favorite lipsticks, and this shade certainly doesn’t disappoint. This was my favorite item in the box. Not surprising, considering my love of lipstick!

2. L’Oreal Oleo Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner: I was excited to try this combo. They’re oil infused, so I thought they would be great for my dry winter hair. I really wasn’t impressed. I didn’t feel that it did anything than my normal shampoo and conditioner.

3. Olay Fresh Effects Makeup Wipes: I’ve used these before, so it wasn’t a new product for me. I’m pretty loyal to my Neutrogena wipes. These are fine, just not my favorite.

4. Jergens BB Body Cream: I haven’t used this product yet, but I’m excited to do so. I’m picky about my lotions, so hopefully I’ll like it and can buy the full size version in the future.

5. In additional to the other products, they also always include smaller samples and coupons in these boxes. This time they included samples and coupons for Maybelline Dream Wonder Foundation and Nivea Cocoa Butter cream. I like Maybelline foundations, so I’ll definitely be using that coupon!

Overall, I’m pleased with this box. If you haven’t tried out the Walmart Beauty Boxes, I highly recommend them. I prefer this box over some of the more popular ones because of the brands they choose. These are brands I already use on a regular basis. I like that when I find a product in this box I like, I can walk into any drugstore or Walmart/Target, and but it again. And I haven’t even mentioned the best part yet. This box is only $5! That alone should be enough to convince you, since just the lipstick is more than that in the store! If you’re interested in signing up for the box (which I recommend you do), you can do so here!

If you subscribe to the box, I’d love to know what you thought of the products!

Holiday Nail Polish

Holiday Nail Polish

I’m lazy when it comes to nail polish. I’m almost never wearing any. When I do wear nail polish, it’s almost always a dark navy or plum color. But the holiday season is a totally different story! I love the sparkly red, silver and gold nail colors that suddenly seem so appealing as we get closer to Christmas and New Years.

Here are some of the nail polish colors I love for this holiday season!

My Everyday Makeup

My Everyday Makeup

Today I’m going to share with you my everyday makeup routine. This isn’t necessarily everyday, but most everyday that I work (Monday-Friday). I’m a person who likes to have a routine. When I find products that I like, those are the products I use regularly. I generally don’t change up my products often or try new ones, because I like the consistency of doing the same routine daily. The exception might be on a day where I wake up late and am forced to sprint into work with just foundation and mascara.

1. The first product I use daily is Revlon Photoready Face Primer. My face can get really shiny throughout the day, and I find that having this base helps avoid that. I definitely notice a difference when I’m not wearing it.

2. I’ve been using Maybelline Fit Me Foundation (shade 115) for a couple of months and I really enjoy it. It goes smooth, blends really nicely, and the coverage remains throughout the workday and for hours afterward.

3. For my lids and under eye, I’ve been using the Revlon Photoready Eye Primer and Under-Eye Brightener. It primes my eyes and acts as a concealer for my under-eye. Overall, it does a good job.

4. Along with the foundation, I also use the Fit Me powder in the same shade. Like I mentioned before, my face gets oily. Especially my nose. It’s annoying. I definitely need a powder to help counter that.

5. The bronzer I’ve been using is just one I picked up at Ulta. I’m not picky about my bronzer. It gets the job done.

6. The Estee Lauder blush I’ve been using came in a holiday gift set last year. I still have most of the products, but the blush is the one I find myself using daily. It’s a lovely shade.

7. I actually received this Too Face Smokey Eye Palette in a giveaway a month or two ago, but have been using it regularly since. On a normal day, I use the shades Firefly on my lid and Cloves in the crease.

8. This Too Faced Perfect Eyes Liner came from the same giveaway and I love it. It goes on so smoothly!

9. Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara is the makeup product I am most loyal too. I buy this again and again and it’s the only mascara I use. This Bold Lacquer is from the Grow Luscious set.

10. Finally, a lipstick. Maybelline Warm Me Up is one of my favorites because it isn’t too dark, too bright, or too shiny. For the average day I prefer to have a subtle lipstick. This one is great for that and is definitely my go-to.

Readers, tell me about your daily makeup routine! What are some of your favorite products?
